PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which is crosslinkable at an ambient temperature, shows high crosslinking efficiency and gives a coated film showing excellent solvent resistance and water resistance by mixing a hydrazide derivative with a copolymer of a vinyl monomer containing a carbonyl- or aldehyde group. SOLUTION: A derivative to be used in the present invention is a hydrazide derivative represented by formula I or a derivative obtained by protecting an amino group with a low molecular weight carbonyl compound (wherein R1, R2, R4 and R5 are each H, lower alkyl, alicyclic alkyl, (substituted)aryl or (substituted)aralkyl; R3 is H, lower alkyl, aralkyloxycarbonyl or formula II (wherein R8 and R9 are each same as R1, R2, R4 and R5; and p is 0-8); and R6 and R7 are each lower alkylene). The amount of amino group or imino group of the derivative represented by formula I is 0.1-10 equivalents per 1 equivalent of the sum of carbonyl group and/or aldehyde group of the vinyl- based copolymer.
