PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain ethylenediamine zinc phosphate that is useful as a frame retardant or the like and simply producible in an industrial scale by dripping an aqueous solution containing ethylenediamine and an inorganic metal base to an aqueous solution prepared by dissolving a zinc compound in a phosphoric acid aqueous solution. SOLUTION: A zinc compound, for example, zinc sulfate or the like is dissolved in a phosphoric acid aqueous solution (the amount of the phosphoric acid is 1.0-2.0 moles based on the zinc compound). Then, ethylenediamine (preferably in an amount of 0.5-0.8 mol per mole of the zinc compound) and an inorganic metal base, for example, sodium hydroxide (preferably in an amount of 2.0-3.0 gram equivalents per mole of the zinc compound) are dissolved in water and the solution is dropped in the zinc and phosphoric acid aqueous solution to effect their reactions and the objective ethylenediamine zinc phosphate represented by the formula: Zn2P2O8C2N2H10 is obtained thereby.
