<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake lamp control system that determines with precision whether drivers will step on the brake or not and then automatically lights brake lamps. SOLUTION: A brake lamp control system 10 comprises an inter-vehicle distance sensor 11 for measuring the distance from the own vehicle to another ahead, a speed sensor 12 for detecting the speed of the own vehicle, an accelerator sensor 13 for detecting accelerator operations, a brake lamp lighting circuit 14, and a control means 15. On rapid accelerator release, if the actual inter- vehicle distance that the inter-vehicle distance sensor 11 detects is shorter than a reference inter-vehicle distance depending upon the speed, the control means 15 actuates the brake lamp lighting circuit 14.</p> |
