PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat-resistant yellow pigment having excellent dispersibility and excellent heat resistance and causing a small change in hue before and after a treating step for improving the heat resistance. SOLUTION: This heat-resistant yellow pigment is a compound hydrous iron oxide particle powder having 0.1-1.0μm average major axis diameter in which a hydrous oxide comprising Fe and Al is made to adhere to the particle surface of a hydrous iron oxide particle powder, the amount of the Fe in the adhering hydrous oxide is 0.1-50 wt.% based on the hydrous iron oxide particle powder, the amount of the Al is 0.1-10 wt.% based on the hydrous iron oxide particle powder and the atomic ratio of the Al to Fe in the adhering hydrous oxide is (1:0.5) to (1:20).
