ADHESIVE FOR CIGARETTE TIP AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adhesive for cigarette tip showing its adhesion force in a short time and excellent in its initial adhesiveness. SOLUTION: This aq. adhesive is obtd. by adding a plasticizer and an formaldehyde condensate of an arom. sulfonic acid alkali metal salt to an aq. emulsion contg. a vinyl acetate polymer particle using a polyvinyl alcohol polymer as an emulsifier, and a water-soluble polymer may be added. The glass transition temp. (Tg) of the vinyl acetate polymer is about -30-70 deg.C and the average particle diameter is about 0.01-5μm. The quantity of the formaldehyde condensate of an arom. sulfonic acid alkali metal salt is about 0.1-100 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. of the polyvinyl alcohol polymer.
