An arrangement for mounting the rotor of an electrical machine with the use of damping devices in association with the roller- or sleeve-bearings of the rotor shaft. The damping devices are arranged between the bearing block (1) and the machine bed (2). The respective bearing block (1) is seated on a horizontal flexurally soft console plate (3) which is supported over non-linear, spring elements (41) having variable compression, on a flexurally stiff support plate (4), which is braced by means of a retention spring (32), having a variable compression, together with the flexurally soft console plate (3).
