A lighting element (10) comprises a light guide with a light output face (1A) inclined relative to its opposite back face. A light source element (10) has a light guide with its back and longitudinal side faces (1C, 1D) covered with light reflective or diffuse back-scattering reflectors (4) and with one or both of its end faces (1E) facing a light source (5). The light output face (1A) and the opposite back face of the light guide form a non-zero angle. An Independent claim is also included for an LCD equipped with the above light source element.
