An electric power supply for a spinning machine has prepared current supply cables for lengths of machine sections with plugs/sockets and take-off lines for sections to be assembled. The spinning machine (1), with a number of spinning stations, has a number of units which require electrical power supplies from an electrical supply system (20). The electrical supply has a number of current carriers and connections for the sections (I-IV) of the machine each with a number of workstations (8). The cable (25) to carry the current is prefabricated for a machine section length, with plugs (26) and sockets (27) at the ends. At one end of the cable (25), a section take-off (30,31) takes current for the supply of other electrical units (4) which are identical or have the same function at the section. The plugs (26) and/or sockets (27) fit together in a squeeze fit with the cable ends and/or connections of the section take-off lines (30-33) at the ends of the supply cables (25). The housings for the plugs (26) and sockets (27) are of molded plastics, and are fitted with fixing components (40,41) and especially recesses or drillings. Each section (I-IV) of the spinning machine can be assembled separately, together with the wiring of the supply cable (25) and its plugs (26) and sockets (27) to be linked up when in place.
