A switching coupling between coaxial shafts has the inner shaft (1) with flats (8) on which are positioned rollers and which roll on the inside of the outer shaft (2). The rollers are held in a cage (3) between the shafts. A radial control shaft (4) slides in and out of pockets in the cage and is driven by an axial control shaft (5). In one setting of the radial shaft the cage is held to position the rollers for free running and in the other position of the shaft the cage is free to move and displaces the rollers into a clamping position between the shafts.
