ACRYLIC SMC OR BMC, PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, PROCESS FOR PRODUCING ARTIFICIAL ACRYLIC MARBLE, AND THICKENER

An acrylic SMC or BMC which comprises as structural components an acrylic monomer or acrylic syrup (A), an inorganic filler (B), and polymer particles (C) having a residual emulsifier content of 0.01 to 0.95 wt.%; a process for producing an acrylic SMC or BMC which comprises kneading the ingredients with a kneader (8) at a temperature in the range of 20 to 70 DEG C to cause a viscosity increase; a process for producing an artificial marble which comprises heating and pressing the acrylic SMC or BMC to cure it; and a thickener comprising the polymer particles (C). These are useful for producing an artificial (meth)acrylic marble satisfactory in various properties including appearance and resistance to hot water.
