A filter that has captured live bacteria is treated by an extraction reagent and a luminous reagent, an emission status of the filter is imaged by a television camera (1) comprising an optical system and an imaging means (such as CCD), the number of luminescent points is counted from image data of microorganism-derived fluorescent luminescent points via an image processor (3) and data analyzer (4), and the results are displayed on a display (5). If luminescent points exist around and adjacent to one luminescent point during the data analysis, a group of these luminescent points are counted as one point. Effects by a diffused light generated from a luminescent point with a large luminance are also removed. Accordingly, counting errors that might be encountered when a shape of a luminescent point derived from one microorganism is complicated or that might be caused by effects by a diffused light generated due to a large luminance can be minimized.
|
