The arrangement encompasses a steering column (3) located in a bearing unit (10) so as to be pivotable about steering axis (L). A manually activated locking unit can be moved so as to either lock or free the steering column. The locking unit is built so as to be inoperable by a child under 3 years of age, whereby in order to move the locking unit, a certain resisting force must be overcome.
