Dovetailed tongue and groove connections are produced from solid wood workpieces, longitudinal conically narrowing in pairs. In a workpiece (1) a groove (2) is milled, which has conical side surfaces (3,4), so that the side surfaces narrow to the groove and in relation to the longitudinal axis (5). The groove has dovetail-shaped side walls (6,7) with wall surfaces (9,9).
