The water circuit has a cooling water tapping and a sensor that informs the engine management processor of the current temp. at the hottest engine point. Two small, high -speed electric water pumps operate the cooling and heating circuits. If both pumps are inactive only the water around the combustion chambers is heated. The expansion vessel is connected at the highest point of the cooling system and has no circuit. Thus the operating temp. is reached very rapidly and the engine manager reacts by weakening the mixture, causing a rapid increases in exhaust gas temp. The catalyser reaches its operating temp. more rapidly.
