An analog-digital, radiation-hardened, low-power Smart Sensor Data Acquisition and Control chip, specifically designed and developed for Spacecraft/Instrument Housekeeping and Controls. Various sensor data received at a multiplexed input (34-42, 44, 46) are measured, digitized by an analog-to-digital converter (48), stored in memory (49) and transmitted. Control actions are activated through a standard bi-directional, digital parallel (32) and serial bus interface (18). A standard parallel interface (42) for parallel redout and a 12C industry standard serial interface (18) for serial readout are provided on chip. The design greatly reduces the amount of harness wiring required and simplifies system design.
