The invention relates to a kettle with security cut-off. The aim of the invention is to provide a universal kettle with which water can be boiled, heated to a temperature which is lower than the boiling point and coffee and tea can be directly prepared in said kettle, whereby the formation of limescale should be prevented. The kettle has a security cut-off which can be mounted on a base (1) used for power supply. Said kettle is characterised in that a water container (2) is connected to a lower part (11) with a positive and a non-positive fit. Said lower part (11) comprises a handle (4). A lid (3) comprising an integrated steam outlet (17) and/or an integrated retaining rod guide (33) for a filter plunger (30) can be fixedly placed on the kettle (2). A heating device (10) and a temperature controller which is connected to a commutator (9) are arranged at the bottom (8) of the lower part (11) and a steam stop switch (20) is integrated in the handle (4) of the lower part (11). Said steam stop switch (20) is connected to the steam outlet (17) of the lid (3) via a steam channel (18).
