ARRANGEMENT FOR A FOOT SUPPORT IN AN AREA FOR THE FEET IN A MOTOR VEHICLE

The invention relates to an arrangement for a footrest (7) in an area for the feet in a motor vehicle, whereby said area is surrounded by a side wall section (2,4) and a floor panel (1). In order to reduce the risk of injury to the lower extremities of a passenger when deformation of said foot area occurs as a result of an accident, a lower end area (8) of the footrest (7) is maintained in one or more fixing points in the region of the floor panel (1) or a sillboard. If an accident occurs, this area remains substantially immovable. In order to provide stability and increase comfort in daily use, the center area (10) and/or upper end area (12) of the footrest (7) is/are secured by means of a specific deformation section (13) and/or a specific break section on at least one other supporting point (15). The initial relative position of the footrest is thus maintained with a corresponding displacement of the supporting point in the case of deformation of said foot area if an accident occurs.
