A method for producing a flywheel for an IC engine uses a forge process to press a pot shaped ring with a radial section (12) linked to an axial section (26) by an intermediate section (14). The outer rim of the intermediate section is shaped with the ring gear (20) for the starter motor as well as with timing markings (22). No additional processes are required.
