METHOD FOR SELECTING INTRAMODE ENCODING IN MOVING PICTURE ENCODER

PURPOSE: A method for selecting intramode encoding in a moving picture encoder is provided to improve an encoding ratio and to prevent a transmission error from being transferred. CONSTITUTION: A method for selecting intramode encoding in a moving picture encoder includes four steps. The method uses a motion estimation and an estimation compensation after estimating a movement between frames on a block basis. At the first step, a sum of an absolute value of a difference of pixels between the current image and the previous image for all blocks of current image. At the second step, the sum of the first step is accumulated. At the third step, a block to be encoded is selected with a predetermined number of images from the maximum of the accumulated value from the second step in a descending order. At the forth step, the selected block is encoded with an intramode and the accumulated value is initialized.
