PURPOSE: A method for controlling a vane of an air conditioner is provided to change the temperature distribution of a surface of a vane controller by controlling the position of the vane controller according to the room temperature and operation time, and defrost a discharge hole by returning the vane controller to an original position. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a vane of an air conditioner including a room temperature sensing part, a vane controller, a control part and a timer, comprises the steps of determining whether or not to drive the vane controller in a cooling mode(s12) after determining whether or not to operate a cooling operation by the controller part(s11), driving the timer for a preset time period if the vane controller is not in operation according to the determination result(s13), determining whether a room temperature is above a predetermined temperature or not(s14), returning the vane controller to an original position after repeatedly driving for a predetermined time in up and down, and right and left directions(s15), and initializing the timer(s16).
