The linkage has a first linkage device, for pivotably mounting a first linkage part (1) with respect to a base part (3), a second linkage device, for pivotably mounting a second linkage part (2) with respect to the first linkage part, and a delay device for delaying the relative motion of the linkage parts. The delay device has a fluid shear chamber extending between two separate flat electrodes connected to a high voltage circuit and a controller for the voltage applied to the electrodes. The shear properties of an eletrorheological fluid in the shear chamber are altered by the applied voltage to vary the braking moment in a controlled manner. |
