PURPOSE: A method for outputting and switching a state of a peripheral device processor in a switching system is provided to allow an operator to recognize the state thereof, and increase reliability of a call service, by outputting the state by each port of thereof in response to an instruction of the operator, and enabling the switch of the state thereof. CONSTITUTION: An access switching processor(ASP) checks whether an instruction is received from an operation and maintenance processor(OMP)(311). The ASP analyzes a parameter of the received instruction(313). The ASP checks whether the received instruction is normal, based on the parameter(315). If the received instruction is normal, it is checked whether the received instruction is a state output instruction or switching instruction(319,325). If the received instruction is the state output instruction, the ASP checks the state of the peripheral device processor(321), and transmits the data of the state thereof to the OMP(323). If a parameter corresponding to a port number of the processor does not exist(329), all ports of the processor are switched(333) and the switching result is transmitted to the OMP(335).
