PURPOSE: An inter processor communication interface unit is provided to interface a processor of an SSL and a processor of an ATM switching system by using an IPC interface unit. CONSTITUTION: An inter processor communication interface unit comprises a segment assembly reassembly processing portion(24) and an HDLC processing portion(25). The segment assembly reassembly processing portion recombines ATM cell data generated from an ATM processor as a message format in order to convert them to an inter processor communication message type and converts an inter processor communication message generated from a space switch and a link interface portion to the ATM cell message. The HDLC processing portion converts the message format to the inter processor communication message type and recombines the inter processor communication message generated from the space switch and the link interface portion as the message format in order to convert them to the ATM cell data type.
