PURPOSE: A mixed modulation-demodulation method, a base station apparatus and a subscriber apparatus thereby are provided to increase the efficiency of frequency usage by mixing QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) and 16-QAM(Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) modulation method in the wireless local loop and mixing QPSK and 16-QAM demodulation method in a subscriber apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A receiving signal processing part(110) transmits data to a subscriber apparatus through a transmitting antenna. A receiving signal processing part(120) receives the transmitted signal through a receiving antenna. An ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switch(130) switches top-down data transferred from a data processing part to the receiving signal processing part(110) and bottom-up data transferred from the receiving signal processing part(120) to the data processing part. A modulation control part(140) controls the modulation method of the receiving signal processing part(110). A base station controller(150) controls the ATM switch(130) with modulation control information transferred from the modulation control part(140).
