PURPOSE: A low power high voltage generator is provided to apply high voltage to only a necessary section, thereby saving current consumption. CONSTITUTION: A low power high voltage generator comprises a low frequency oscillator(1), a fist pumping unit(2), a high frequency oscillator(3), a second pumping unit(4), a high voltage lever gauge(5), a word line signal detector(10) and a high voltage selector(20). The word line signal detector(10) senses whether an active command from outside is a word line enable signals or a word line disable signal and selects high voltage for controlling the oscillator(3) and being applied to a memory cell(6). The high voltage selector(20) selectively outputs a source voltage(VDD) or a high voltage(VPP) to the memory cell(6) by the selection signal output from the detector(10).
