摘要 PURPOSE: A cell multiplexer/de-multiplexer board assembly(CMDA) in an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) exchange and method for processing a local inter-processor communication(IPC) therein are provided to prevent the function of an ATM switch from being lowered, by processing the local IPC generated between processors without increase of a load in the ATM switch. CONSTITUTION: A link interface part(31) interfaces links of an ATM switch(SW2). A local IPC register(32) temporarily stores the cells from the ATM switch(SW2) by a first-in and first-out(FIFO) policy. A rout logic(33) applies a corresponding cell to the part(31) or register(32), and reads the cells applied from the part(31) and stored in the register(32) to output them to a virtual path identifier(VPI) detector(34). The VPI detector(34) detects the VPI of the cell from the rout logic(33) and determines a target processor for the detected VPI referring to a VPI table(35) in order to send the cell to the target processor. FIFO registers(37a-37d) temporarily stores the cells sent between an arbitration logic(36) and processor interface parts(38a-38d).
