ADSORBENT FOR HIGH-BOILING POINT HYDROCARBONS AND METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS REMOVAL OF HYDROCARBONS USING THE SAME ADSORBENT

PURPOSE: An adsorbent which adsorbs and removes high-boiling point hydrocarbons contained in a coke oven gas from an ironworks is provided to improve adsorption ability for high-boiling point hydrocarbons. CONSTITUTION: An adsorbent for high-boiling point hydrocarbons comprises one or more transition metals carried by an active carbon fiber or an active carbon. A method for continuous removal of high boiling point hydrocarbons in a gas containing the same comprises the steps of introducing the gas into the first adsorption column containing the adsorbent to adsorb high-boiling point hydrocarbons and discharge purified gas; and simultaneously introducing the gas at constant temperature into the second adsorption column to decompose the high-boiling point hydrocarbons adsorbed by the adsorbent into water and CO2 and discharging them to recycle the adsorbent. The first column and the second column alternatively carry out the adsorption step and the recycle step.
