PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to improve transparency and aperture rate by operating all liquid crystal molecules on the electrode of the liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes an upper and a lower substrates(20,10), liquid crystal(15), a pixel electrode(11a) and a counter electrode(11b), a horizontal alignment layer(13), a vertical alignment layer(22), a first polarization plate(14), a second polarization plate(24) and a phase compensation film(26). The upper and lower substrates(20,10) are facing each other at a predetermined distance between them. The liquid crystal(15) is applied between the upper and the lower substrates. The pixel electrode(11a) and a counter electrode(11b) are made of transparent light conductive material, space out a narrower distance than the spacing between the upper and the lower substrates, and implemented on the inner surface of the lower substrate(10). The horizontal alignment layer(13) is implemented on the surface of the lower substrate. The vertical alignment layer(22) is implemented on the inner surface of the upper substrate.
