METHOD FOR ENCODING MOVING PICTURES TO FACILITATE REVERSE DIRECTION PLAYBACK

PURPOSE: A method for encoding moving pictures to facilitate reverse direction playback is provided to estimate the motion of the pictures effectively with less calculation. CONSTITUTION: A method for encoding moving pictures to facilitate reverse direction playback includes first thru forth steps. At the first step, a first intra image is forward encoded. At the second step, the current image is forward encoded with using a next encoded image as a previous image. At the third step, an encoded image of an interframe mode for a reverse direction playback is generated at every forward encoding intervals. The the forth step, a moving picture is reverse direction played using an encoded image of an intramode of the encoding image from the third step and the stored image from the second step.
