PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting a residual ink amount of a wet type printer is provided to precisely detect residual amount of ink regardless of viscosity of the ink. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting a residual ink amount of a wet type printer includes a measuring container(10) mounted at one side of an ink case(1) and provided with a path(5) between the ink case for inputting/outputting ink mixed with a liquid carrier and toner, a blocking film(20) mounted in the measuring container for separating an opened space(12a) toward the ink case and an isolated space for changing the opened and closed spaces(12b) relatively by sensing change of the amount of ink input and output via the path according to a pressure in the ink case due to residual ink, and level sensors(30,35) for measuring level of liquid injected in the closed space of the measuring container to detect the residual amount of ink, wherein the liquid level changed in response to the movement of the blocking film is measured according to the change of the input/output ink amount in the opened space due to the pressure difference of the residual ink in the ink case and the liquid in the closed space.
