METHOD FOR CONTROLLING PLAY OF VIDEOTAPE IN TVCR

PURPOSE: A method for controlling a play of videotape in a TVCR is provided to inform an impossibility of play to a user by using an OSD(on screen display) when the play is impossible by deciding the playing impossibility of videotape to play. CONSTITUTION: A synchronous signal is detected by starting a traveling of tape. A frequency of detected synchronous signal is distinguished and is compared if the frequency is the same as a frequency of synchronous signal stored in a EEPROM. Thereby a possibility of play is decided. And the possibility of play is decided by comparing a detected data of color signal and a color standard stored in the EEPROM. When the synchronous signal and the color standard are not the same, that is the play is impossible, it is informed as the impossible videotape to play to a user by outputting an OSD and the play is stopped.
