PURPOSE: A protector and a drive stopping method of a scroll compressor are provided to prevent venting gas temperature from over-rising by placing a thermal valve in the most suitable position for stopping the drive of a compressor. CONSTITUTION: A thermal valve(20) is open with the rise of venting gas temperature. Venting gas in a venting chamber is reversely supplied to a compressing chamber(18) of a fixing scroll(7) through a channel(30). The compressing chamber is filled with venting gas and an electromotor unit increases in power. Then the electromotor unit generates overload heat with the increased power and an overload device stops the drive of the electromotor unit.
