PURPOSE: An auto control method for a television screen is provided to detect the brightness of the screen and to determine whether the brightness is lower than a predetermined level for maintaining optimal screen brightness. CONSTITUTION: An auto control method for television screen includes four steps. At the first step(302), the brightness of surroundings is detected when the television is turned on. At the second step(306), the detected brightness is compared with the predetermined reference brightness and the brightness of the image on the screen of the television is detected according to the compared result. At the third step, a PWM(phase width modulation) signal is generated to increase the brightness when the detected brightness is lower than the reference value(312), and the detected brightness is maintained higher than the reference value(310).
