PURPOSE: A cathode for an electric gun is provided to disperse the reacting material which is generated when the glass Ba group is generated by forming an upper metal layer between a base metal and an electron emitting material. CONSTITUTION: A cathode for an electric gun comprises a base metal which contains nickel, an upper metal layer, and an electron emitting material. A reacting material of BaO, Si, and Mg which is accumulated on the border surface of the base metal(60) and the electron emitting material(80) is dispersed.
