Pyrotechnically operated electrical switch

The gas combustion pyrotechnic electrical contactor has a pyrotechnic initiator (3) driving a piston (4). The piston is inside a tube (2) with three contact electrodes (5,6,7). Prior to initiation a conductor surface (8) connects two of the contact electrodes (5,6) together. Movement of the piston following initiation provides contact between all three contacts at a given instant, providing the switch response.
