PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for maintaining remotely a digital broadcasting receiver with a communication device is provided to diagnose and repair a digital broadcasting receiver by using a modem. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and a method for maintaining remotely a digital broadcasting receiver with a communication device comprise a modem(14), a log file storage portion(12), a diagnosis/repair portion(13), and a control portion(11). The modem is communicated with a digital broadcasting receiver. The log file storage portion stores log files corresponding to the digital broadcasting receivers. The diagnosis/repair portion performs a diagnosis process and a repair process according to the log files. The control portion performs a control for outputting the log files to the diagnosis/repair portion.
