A method keeps photographic film current. In the method, a logical memory unit is allocated to the photographic film unit. The logical memory unit is remote from the film unit (10). A plurality of photofinishing parameters for the film unit (10) are designated. The logical memory unit is maintained for a time period sufficient to cause aging. The photofinishing parameters are updated counteractive to the aging and photofinishing can then be performed using the updated parameters for the film unit (10). <IMAGE>
