PURPOSE: An automatic response apparatus for video telephone is provided to identify a telephone number called during the absence by storing the telephone number called during the absence automatically using a caller ID provided from a telephone office. CONSTITUTION: A system control unit(105) controls a signal process of a camera digital signal processing unit(103), performs a compression, a decompression and a transmission of a video signal, and performs an automatic response. A communication control and interface unit(107) performs a control of a video communication and a signal input and output according to a control of the system control unit(105). A memory unit(109) stores control information or video information of the system control unit(105) and stores a caller ID, an automatic response video and audio data and a received video and audio data.
