PURPOSE: A method for editing a bell sound type of a reception signal in a cellular phone is provided to allow a user to input a musical note and scale and thus edit the bell sound type thereof as a desired one, thereby reducing confusion due to the same bell sound provided by the same company. CONSTITUTION: It is determined whether a function of editing the bell sound type by a user is selected(300). If the function is selected, the edit screen is displayed on a displayer(310). It is determined whether a function of deleting the bell sound type is selected(320). If the deletion function is selected, a bell sound type selected by a user is deleted from a memory(321,322). It is determined whether a function of modifying the bell sound type is selected(330). If the modification function is selected, a bell sound type to be modified is selected(331,332). If the modification function is not selected, a name of a new bell sound type for the reception signal is inputted(340). The musical note and scale corresponding to the new bell sound type are inputted(360). The inputted musical note and scale are stored in a memory as the name thereof(390).
