PURPOSE: A remote control apparatus for electric appliances using a pulse position modulation method is provided to minimize the installation cost with stable operation characteristics and simple wiring. CONSTITUTION: A remote control apparatus for electric appliances is composed of a transmitting module(100) and a receiving module(200). The transmitting module(100) comprises switches(SW1,SW2) to select the operation of loads, an oscillator(120) to generate electrically continuous vibration, an encoding modulation(130) to output pulse code signals that the signals of the oscillator(120) are modulated into pulse location, and an infrared emitting part(140) to emit infrared rays according to the pulse code signals. The receiving module(200) comprises an infrared sensor(220) to output pulse code series signals, a decoder(230) to decode the pulse code series signals and a switching unit(240,245) to supply and interrupt normal power to loads.
