PURPOSE: A method for preparing granulated carbon is provided, to reduce the face interval between its crystal lattices and to obtain the carbon body in high yield. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises the steps of mixing 60-90 wt.% of isotropic pitch and 10-40 wt.% of thermoplastic resin and melting the mixture to obtain the melted mixture; adding 500 ppm to 1 wt.% of zirconium compound or boron compound to the melted mixture and heating the mixture at the temperature of 450-500°C under the inert condition; heating the mixture at the temperature of 500-1,000°C to obtain carbon body; and pulverizing the carbon to obtain granulated carbon whose size is 1-35 micrometers. Preferably the isotropic pitch is coal tar or petroleum rich oil residue whose melting point is above 110°C, and the thermoplastic resin is phenol resin, furan resin or polyimide resin.
