PURPOSE: An apparatus for compensating a signal level of a digital ground wave broadcasting transmitter is provided to improve a reliability of a high altitude for an output of a linear amplifier of a transmitter by compensating intermodulation distortion caused due to a nonlinear characteristic of an amplifier. CONSTITUTION: A modulator receives an image signal and an audio signal from a broadcasting station and generates an intermediate frequency signal. An upward converter receives the intermediate frequency signal from the modulator and outputs a radio frequency signal. A power amplifier receives the radio frequency signal from the upward converter and amplifies it. A signal level compensator senses attenuation of the amplified signal output from the power amplifier to automatically compensate a non-linear characteristic and performs a feedback of the output signal to the modulator.
