PURPOSE: A method for lubricating the mechanism of VCR is provided to maintain the optimum state of the VCR by spraying lubricating oil by driving a mechanism driving unit periodically while not driving the mechanism for a long time. CONSTITUTION: After completing the drive of a VCR, a time(A) to present and a no driving time(B) for a long time are compared. If the time to present is less than the no driving time for a long time, a present state is progressed. If the time to present is larger than the no driving time for a long time, the electric power is turned on. Then, the existence of a tape in a deck is decided by using distance detecting sensors(41) attached on the left and the right sides of a front loading assembly. If the tape is absent, a cassette holder is pulled forcibly. If the tape is existed, a certain mode is repeated for regulated times for discharging the tape and turning off the electric power.
