PURPOSE: A method of testing TV using test patterns is provided to detect defects of a TV bt inputting test patterns corresponding to characteristics of each devices and inspecting the output status of audio and video signals. CONSTITUTION: A method of testing TV using test patterns includes four steps. The television selects a specific broadcasting signal, processes video and audio signals, and displays the processed signals through a CRT(13) and a speaker. At the first step, a microcomputer(14) detects whether a command to test a test pattern is inputted by a user. At the second step, test pattern signals including device- specific test patterns are input sequentially. At the third step, a video quality and screen status are inspected according to the test pattern signal. At the forth step, a device without outputting the normal video and audio signals is detected.
