PURPOSE: A method for recording a time lapse VCR is provided not to generate an overlapped section by operating recording-pause-recording by synchronizing an REC-H at the rising edge of a video head switching signal. CONSTITUTION: A present mode is decided if a recording mode or a playing back mode for checking if the present mode is the time lapse mode in case of the recording mode and for maintaining a standby state in case of not the recording mode. If the recording mode is the time lapse mode, a controlling unit checks if an REC-H signal is detected. If the REC-H signal is detected, the detection of a switching pulse is checked. If the switching pulse is detected, the recording is operated. Herein, the REC-H signal is not fed to a recording head before detecting the switching pulse not to operate the recording. Therefore, the REC-H signal is fed to the recording head after generating the switching pulse because the switching pulse and the reversed switching pulse has to be fed to the NMOS transistor and the PMOS transistor of an REC-H output timing. Then, the input of a recording completing signal is checked for stopping the recording.
