PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for estimating error range in wireless communication system is provided to improve the performance of a MAP decoder by extracting original information from a receiving signal, encoding extracted original information through a re-encoder, and estimating an error range of the receiving signal using encoded original information to transmit the estimated error range to the MAP decoder. CONSTITUTION: A pre-decoder(110) predecodes a receiving signal received from a transmitting terminal and extracts original information. A re-encoder(120) reencodes original information predecoded in the pre-decoder(110). An error range estimating unit(330) compares original information reencoded in the re-encoder(120) with the receiving signal and estimates an error range occurred in the receiving signal.
