PURPOSE: A reading helper is proposed to help users to read or buy books by providing information made with summary of books to the users in internet. CONSTITUTION: Contents of a book published by a publishing company are abridged by 0.5 to 1 percent of the quantity of the contents(2). Summary edition is made by adding introduction of author and explanation about new and difficult word to the summary, not a simple plot but a kind of recreation, of a book(3). The summary edition is stored in a database and posted in internet and users can look for the information using book title, book author, and publishing company name(4). In this process, users can join in the procedure of building summary edition. Users can gain help in deciding buying a book by reading the summary edition in advance and grasp over-all contents of a book. This method can reduce the time to be taken in selecting and reading books, and the effect of reading is increased by user's reading of summary edition.
