PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for a dedicated detection means and to realize the reduction of cost and miniaturization by using a means for detecting a toner absent state in a toner magazine also to detect the unmounted state of the toner magazine on the device. SOLUTION: A toner detection sensor 4 is provided in a toner hopper. An output signal from the sensor 4 is analyzed with the on/off state of a power source switch/cover switch 7 in a CPU 10 so as to detect the unmounted state of the toner magazine 3, to detect the absence of the toner in the toner hopper or to detect toner near end showing that toner remaining amount in the toner hopper gets small. In such a case, if the toner absent state is detected after turning on the switch 7 in order to open/close a cover or start the device, the unmounted state of the toner magazine 3 is detected by judging that the toner magazine 3 is forgotten to be mounted. Then, display designating that the toner magazine 3 should be mounted is performed in an operation display part 5. |
