PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing, at a high productivity, finely divided carboxymethyl ethyl cellulose, controlled at a desired particle size in a range from 0.0001 to 10 mm and stable in quality. SOLUTION: This method produces finely divided cellulose having carboxy group by adding water to a mixed solution of an organic solvent dissolving cellulose having carboxy group and basic material to separate out the particles, where the organic solvent may be mixed with water. Size of the particles can be controlled by adjusting degree of neutralization of the carboxy group with the basic material. |
