PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting an eddy current induced by the switched magnetic field gradient of a nuclear spin resonance device and including a cross term, so that at least the cross term of the eddy current can be determined within a selected layer in a short time. SOLUTION: This method includes the following steps: (a) a spatially broadened phantom is put in the inspection range of a nuclear spin resonance device; (b) a measurement gradient pulse GM having a predetermined pulse width tG is switched on; and (c) after the measurement gradient pulse GM is switched off, at least two image pickup sequence blocks that succeed at intervals t1, t2, tn are generated and at least two-dimensional complex data sets are generated from their image pickup signals, in which case phase informationϕi (x, y) is proportional to the strength B (x, y, t) of a magnetic field.
